Transformable Table & Chair
As part of my research into the design of eco-friendly, multifunctional furniture, I created the Transformable Table &Chair.
As the knobs are turned on the chair and table, different colored and/or printed fabrics connected together in a strip and stored on rolls, weave through the frames from one end to the other, transforming the look and or function of each piece. The frames can be made of various eco-friendly materials including wood, metal, or bamboo. One frame can support many different looks and/or functions. Since one chair or table can become many different chairs or tables by simply changing out the fabric, less of the earths resources are used over time as styles change. Also the fabric rolls can be changed out and recycled along with the frames. Many other kinds of furniture can use the same method in order to reduce the number of pieces needed to accommodate specific needs.
