Blue Sky Drone
The Blue Sky Drones, is a proposal that explores ways in which drones can be used to create unique art projects. As drone technology becomes more and more sophisticated, their potential use in the world of art making becomes increasingly intriguing. Unfortunately, much of the drone technology has evolved around its use as a deadly weapon. As a result, it seems appropriate to counter some of this weaponry with art projects like the Blue Sky Drone, which seeks to play with the drones more whimsical potentials.
In this project, a powerful four-blade drone would be used. It would be mounted to a metal frame that supports a large digital thin screen video monitor. Images of the sky on a specific day are recorded and played back through the digital monitor that night, as the drone flies high above the earth in the area that the original recording was made. In this way, a patch of the daylight reappears once again overhead, as a fragmented reminder of what was there before. In other iterations of this project, many drones could be used to display many patches of the sky all at once, as they fly back and forth mingling with one another in unexpected ways
