Restructured Landscapes
Restructured Landscapes is a series of photomontages that were formed from images of more or less conventional landscape scenes. These landscape scenes were placed into a computer where they were cut and manipulated into various sizes and shapes, and layered over the top of the original landscape image. The manipulated pieces of the original landscapes were then randomly reassembled to form a new restructured series of landscapes. In most cases, these restructured landscapes were doubled in the computer, and merged together to form a symmetrical final image.
It is my hope as the artist that the use of this method will create totally new and unexpected photomontages. Photomontages that will inspire the viewers to think more creatively about how the known world around them can be restructured in new and exciting ways, while still retaining a reference to what they are familiar with.
