Landscapes in the Multiverse

Landscapes in the Multiverse

Landscapes in the Multiverse are a series of photomontages that were inspired by the concept in physics of a multiverse, in which multiple parallel universes may exist. Photography was chosen as the medium through which to aesthetically play with this concept. The images were not created to scientifically describe the idea of a multiverse, but rather to use the concept as a starting point to generate new and unexpected landscapes that symbolically refer it.

Various photos were taken of real world known landscapes. Those photos were placed into a computer where they were manipulated in various ways, usually through a photo warping technique. The manipulated images were then duplicated, cut into several pieces, and pasted back together into new symmetrical images.

The hope is that these photomontages will inspire the views to become more interested in and excited by the concept of a multiverse, as well as other important scientific ideas.
