The Solar Processor Pavilion

The Solar Processor Pavilion

The computer processor, also known as the CPU, provides the instructions and processing power the computer needs to do its work.

The Solar Processor Pavilion was designed for companies like Intel, who have pioneered the technological development of the computer processor. The function of the Solar Processor Pavilion is to provide a special place where companies like Intel can exhibit their latest computer processor technology, and/or use it as a place in which to hold special events and/or corporate meetings.

The shape of an actual computer processor symbolically inspired the physical design of the pavilion. In the case of the Solar Processor Pavilion, sunlight is processed through 25 rooftop solar panels that cover the top of the pavilion, and convert the sunlight into electricity. That electricity is used to power the pavilion, and the excess is sent down through the 36 perimeter square tubes and into the local power grid. Rainwater can also be collected off of the roof and sent down through the tubes into buried storage containers where it can be used in and around the pavilion.
