The Home Office Pod

The Home Office Pod

The Home Office Pod was designed in response to the Corona Virus Pandemic and the need for people to isolate themselves by staying at home. As a result of this, many people find themselves having to work at home. Although working at home can have its advantages, there can also be disadvantages as well. One of the main disadvantages can be the need to isolate oneself from other family members while working, in order to maintain a comfortable degree of productive privacy.

The Home Office Pod is a cylindrical shaped structure made from a kit of parts that can be assembled quickly inside of any house. It was designed to accommodate the needs of one working person with a large curved shape desk, and three curved shaped storage shelves mounted to the interior perimeter of the pod. A large section of the cylinder has been detached and can be rotated on wheels around the outer perimeter of the rest of the cylinder from a central pivot, located on the top of the pod. This feature allows for easy access to the interior, and when rotated to the closed position, forms a cozy private place to work. Various graphics can be applied to the outer perimeter of the Home Office Pod. In this case, large color photo images of a grove of aspen trees have been applied. These images were chosen in order to symbolically refer to a natural place of beauty and solitude into which one might want to retreat.
