Reconstructing The Landscapes
Reconstructing The Landscapes is a series of photomontages that were formed from images of more or less conventional landscape scenes. These landscape scenes were placed into a computer where parts of the images were cut and manipulated into various sizes and shapes, and subtracted from the original landscape photos. The manipulated pieces of the original landscapes were then carefully reassembled in various ways to form a new restructured series of images made from the original landscape scenes. In most cases, silhouettes of the subtracted pieces were left on the original landscape images. It is my hope as the artist that the use of this method will create totally new and unexpected photomontages. Photomontages that will inspire the viewers to think more creatively about how the known world around them can be restructured in new and exciting ways, while still retaining a reference to what they are familiar with.
