The Solar Power Plant

The Solar Power Plant

The Solar Power Plant is a conceptual proposal for a large public art installation designed to celebrate the use of solar energy in the built environment. The painted steel structure is designed to actually collect sunlight, convert it into electricity, and store the electricity for use by the local community in which it is installed. A large photovoltaic panel that converts sunlight into electricity is incorporated into the design, along with various electric storage batteries.

The aesthetics of the Solar Power Plant were inspired by conventional electric power plants, but the specific design of this structure attempts to present a more fanciful version that will encourage the visitors to wonder about what this place is, how it got here, and what it’s real function is.

The ideal location for the Solar Power Plant would be in a public park, but it would also fit well in a city where the energy produced by the structure could be used directly by sending it into the local power grid.
