Out of the Boxes

Out of the Boxes is a proposal for large public art sculptures made of painted steel. The sculptures, which were inspired by modular architecture, are made from a series of cubes. Each cube is the same size, and each has a series of openings cut out, most of which are cut from the corners of the cubes. These openings were randomly cut out of the cubes. The cut out parts were then folded out from the openings and fixed into place, usually back against the cubes. The cut out cubes were then assembled together into the final sculpture, forming an unexpected energetic assemblage. The white sculpture has curved cut outs, and the red sculpture has angled cut outs.
