Portals
Portals is a series of photomontages that were inspired by the concept of the multiverse, which is a hypothetical set of finite and infinite possible universes, including the universe in which we live. Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, and the physical laws and constants that describe them. The various universes within the multiverse are called “parallel universes”, “other universes” or alternate universes.”
The images that were created attempt to illustrate the way in which portals into other universes might look, if we could see them.
Various landscape photos were taken with a digital camera. These images were then placed into a computer where certain sections of the landscapes were isolated, copied, reduced in scale, and copied again, until a progression of smaller and smaller images were formed.
Portals, is just one in a series of many of my photomontage projects that seek out methods, through which totally new and unexpected images can be created. My intent is not to photograph the real world as it is, but rather to invent another world through my personal interventions.
