Masquerading Animal Abstractions

Masquerading Animal Abstractions

Masquerading Animal Abstractions are a series of surreal photomontages primarily made from images of various kinds of animals that have been fitted with masks. The masks were made from images of some of my sculptures that were photographed and manipulated in my computer. In most cases this manipulation consist of isolating the sculpture images from their original backgrounds, cutting them in half, and reassembling the cut images back together into a symmetrical whole. In addition, human eye images were added to the masks before they were placed over the face of the original animal images.

The masked animal images were then placed together as multiple and/or composite formations that in some cases included different animals, graphics, and/or other sculpture images. The ultimate goal of creating these photomontages was to present a series of never before seen and unexpected abstractions that hopefully inspire the viewers to think more creatively about their own fantasy worlds
