Fantasy Architecture

Fantasy Architecture is a series of photomontages made from images of some of my sculptures and architectural models, no AI was used. Photos were taken of the sculptures and models with a digital camera. Those photos were then placed into a computer where the original backgrounds in the photos were removed. The isolated images were then manipulated in various ways with the computer. Usually the manipulation developed around duplicating a single image and merging the two together opposed to each other in a symmetrical orientation. Those merged symmetrical images were copied into multiple layers placed one behind the other, while increasing the scale of each image a little each time. Other montages were formed by cutting and pasting the isolated images together into various compositions that form one larger structure. The finished multilayered images were then placed into various real world landscapes, along with images of people.

The final result produced new and unexpected images of fanciful architectural proposals made from the original sculptures and architectural models. These new formations are extremely complex looking, and the multilayered construction symbolically refers to their possible 3-D physical existence. The hope is that the viewers of these images will be inspired to create stories in their own minds about what the function of these structures might be.
