Places in the Multiverse
Places in the Multiverse (an infinite realm of being or potential of which the universe is regarded as a part or instance) is a series of photomontages made from images of some of my sculptures and architectural models. Photos were taken of the sculptures and models with a digital camera. Those photos were then placed into a computer where the original backgrounds in the photos were removed. The isolated images were then manipulated in various ways with the computer. Usually the manipulation developed around duplicating a single image and merging the two together opposed to each other in a symmetrical orientation. Those merged symmetrical images were copied into multiple layers placed one behind the other, while increasing the scale of each image a little each time. The finished multilayered images were then placed onto a black background.
The final result produced new and unexpected images of places made from the original sculptures and architectural models. These new formations are extremely complex looking, and the multilayered construction symbolically refers to their possible existence in a theoretical multiverse.
The hope is that the viewers of these images will be inspired to create stories in their own minds about what the function of these places might be.
