Anomalies For The Metaverse

Anomalies For The Metaverse

Anomalies For The Metaverse is a series of photomontages depicting various formations created especially for use in the Metaverse. Their exact purpose is yet to be determined by those interacting with them in a virtual-reality space that has been computer-generated. The basic concept that inspired their designs was driven by the desire to create anomalies that had never been seen before, and that appeared to have many possible functions.

All of the photomontages were made from images of my 3-D sculptures and/or architectural projects. I first photographed those objects and isolated them from their original backgrounds, in my computer. The isolated photo images of the objects in my computer were then placed together into many different new configurations. In some cases the images of the original objects were altered by changing their colors and/or scale. In some cases the opacity of the objects were changed and stacked together while changing the scale of each layer in order to form a larger configuration. Often certain simple graphic elements such as cubes, squares, circles, and arrows were added to the formations.

Through this process of creating the photomontages from a menu of images of my own original 3-D works, the hope was to make formations that have never been seen before, which will inspire the users to create stories in their own minds about what these things might be and how best to interact with them in the Metaverse.
