The Sliced Silhouette Pavilion

The Sliced Silhouette Pavilion

This is the first in a series of sculptures based on a symbolic silhouette of a house.  Silhouette slices (made of painted wood or steel) are stacked together in a symmetrical arrangement that play with the three-dimensional form of a fantasy house or structure, which is juxtaposed with one recognizable element, in this case a small staircase. The staircase element suggests a potential functional aspect of the sculpture but placed into a non-functional location relative to the rest of the structure. The scale of these can vary from small gallery size structures to large outdoor installations.

Also photomontages have been made from photos of the sculpture by placing them into a computer and manipulating the original photos through Photoshop, in ways that create new unexpected structures from the original sculpture. New sculptures based on these images can also be made, photographed, and the process can continue indefinitely.
