The Interactive M-velope Retreats are designed to function as Garden Houses, Studios, Offices, and or Guesthouses. They are modular structures that can be various sizes and shapes, and made of various types of materials such as sustainably grown wood. Since they are modular designs, other units can be added together to expand the existing space, this particular structure is two stories high. They can be completely enclosed from the weather with sliding glass doors, and/or left completely opened. The slated panels that surround the support frame can be moved up and down along tracks from the inside to form many different patterns, which in turn change the shape of the structure. This can also be done in order to control solar heat and or light levels, as well as airflow through the structure.
The structures are designed to be prefabricated, so that they can be assembled onto almost any site, with a minimal amount of disruption to the surrounding landscape. Solar panels can also be easily added to the structures in order to supply power in remote locations.
The Interactive M-velope Retreats can also be described as interactive functional art sculptures.
