The Solar Space Frame

The Solar Space Frame is a proposal for a large painted steel public art sculpture that is equipped with solar panels that make electricity from the sun for the local community in which it is installed. The sculpture is also equipped with batteries that store some of the solar electricity that is used to illuminate the sculpture at night.

The intent of the visual design of the sculpture was to create a totally new and never before seen form that inspires the viewers to create stories in their minds about what this thing is, and how it got here.

The Solar Space Frame is one in a series of sculptures that experiment with new forms for the 21st century that incorporate the use of alternative energy gathering and storage systems. It also experiments with the merging of fanciful architecture and sculpture that ask the question, when is architecture architecture, and sculpture sculpture?
