The Power Plant

The Power Plant

The Power Plant is a design proposal for a large public art gathering place installation that would make electricity from the wind and from the sun for the local community. The steel structure is equipped with a specially designed wind turbine mounted on top along with eight disk shaped solar panels. The electricity made by the wind turbine and the solar panels is sent into the local power grid and/or stored in a large donut shaped white battery that encircles the center cylindrical support column. The electricity stored in the battery is used at night to illuminate the Power Plant.

The structure was designed to aesthetically celebrate the use of alternative energy gathering and storage systems in the built environment, and to demonstrate how art can be used very effectively in the fight against global climate change.
