The Super Collider Pavilion

The Super Collider Pavilion

The Super Collider Pavilion is a conceptual proposal for a large public art project. It is intended to symbolically refer to an actual high-energy particle accelerator such as the Large Hadron Collider built in Switzerland. In this proposal, visitors can climb the stairs and walk onto the circular path that leads to the symbolic collision of particles. This collision is represented by a large cluster of white tubes and black spheres, which represent the paths that the particles might have taken immediately after a collision. The entire structure would be made of steel. The Super Collider Pavilion is one in a series of projects that explore new ways in which to merge science, technology, and art, in order to generate totally new and unexpected results. The process employs a method of materializing symbolic elements into physical forms, through the artist’s personal interpretation of those elements.
