Event Horizons

Event Horizons

Event Horizons is a series of photomontages that were inspired by the idea of black holes, and their event horizons. An event horizon is a theoretical boundary around a black hole, beyond which no light or other radiation can escape.

In my inspired black hole fantasy, black holes could develop at any time, and or at any place here on earth, and as a result, form event horizons. My black holes vary in size and all are perfect circles. No matter what their size, they all create a great spiral around them that radically distorts the surrounding landscape as they pull everything in. This distortion forms a wide variety of abstract images that have a black hole at the apex of the spirals.

Photos were taken with a digital camera of various real world locations. In some cases, additional visual elements were added to the mix before the entire image was rotated in the computer, forming the spiral shapes. The black hole image was then added to each of the photos at the right location in order to complete the visual and conceptual photomontage.
