Shrinking The Churches
Shrinking The Churches is a series of photomontages that visually and conceptually play with the phenomenon of the reduction of interest (in certain cultures) of traditional religions. Digital Photos were taken of various churches and their immediate surroundings. Most of the churches were selected because of their large size. The photos were then placed into a computer where the church portions of the images were isolated. Each of the isolated churches were then copied, reduced in size, and copied again and again until a completely new form was created from each original church image. The reformed churches were kept in their original landscapes juxtaposed to the familiar world, now inhabited by a hybrid of what was there before.
