some more pictures of the city i live in, especially of an area with buildings from the 18th century. as i said before, the area is in retoration (though i won't tell you since when).
i was always fascinated by these buildings and their atmosphere.
you might notice there is half of a boat on the upper part of the facade. the photo might be to small.
this a building that has been restored. it isn't the best thing they could have done out of it, but at least it doens't look like collapsing anymore.
there are some buildings from the period between WW1 and WW2, very cubic and with influences of the international style, like the one above. that was the only period when romanian architecture made something not necesarily comparable with western arch, but at least plausible. i do believe that was the best architectural period in ro. i'll show more of such buildings in another post.
catholic church built at the end of the 19th century, one of the most beautiful in town. i can see it's towers from my kitchen window.
synagogue, end of the 19th century
this is a cinema in a parc, built around 1910 , turned into a casino, now out of function
this is an parc entrance
as i child i was fascinated by these figures
details of the statues, always found this one funny.

its such a mixture of parts - vey kitsch, you could write your own learning from Ro (ala learning from Las Vegas)
you think this is kitsch ? trust me, you ain't seen nothing yet. anyway, i don't look at it as kitsch. if someone would built something like that today, it would be. but i think it has the excuse of history. my pictures might also have a fault, as i tried to show various things.
aaaa... i thought we were talking about the other pictures... sorry!
yes, it's home made kitsch! soon, more of it!
