The School of Architecture and Planning is a part of the University at Buffalo—a flagship of the State University of New York—and is the only graduate school of architecture and planning within the 64-campus SUNY system. The school is composed of the departments of Architecture and Planning, and is a multidisciplinary environment that engages with the complex social and environmental issues of the 21st century. With professional and pre-professional programs in the design and planning fields, we integrate knowledge in the arts, humanities, and STEM disciplines and collaborate to address pressing issues pertaining to the built environment. As part of one of the nation’s leading public research universities, the school has an outstanding legacy of and commitment to creative making and engaged learning. Our faculty pursue a range of design and research interests—including climate resilience and adaptation, innovative fabrication and assembly, sustainable building envelopes, food systems, inclusive design, community development and equitable practices, and the history and theory of design culture—pursued through the varied techniques and technologies of our discipline.
