Greetings, my name is Trevor Maclin. I enjoy new learning opportunities along with overcoming challenges that expose myself to new and revolutionary practices, as well as, techniques. I work diligently, create clear goals and relish in collaborative environments. I’ve found that my curious nature, along with my fondness for solving problems, make design work the ideal career path for myself.

While I intend to further my education to obtain a Master of Architecture degree (and ultimately an architectural license), I know gaining a diverse catalogue of experiences and skills, first, will significantly assist my graduate studies. Over the next five years, I intend to pursue work opportunities that challenge, as well as, expand my perception of the built environment and the design profession. I will explore first hand how designers influence and shape our world in order to better understand what my influence on the profession will be.

I’ve found that architecture is both the process and prod- uct of planning, designing and constructing form, space and most importantly, ambience. Designs should reflect functional, technical, social, environmental, and aesthetic considerations. As designers, our work should satisfy three principles (du- rability, utility, & beauty). Great architectural works are often perceived as cultural and political symbols. Great designers do not just create a building or structure. Their work strives to create an experience for its occupants and to reflect the inhabitants of its context. During my undergraduate career, I’ve attempted to master the design of atmospheres and to create experiences that positively impact the locale in which it exists.
