Archinect continues its Get Lectured series by highlighting the Fall 2022 lectures and public events held by Syracuse University School of Architecture.
September 8 was the exhibition opening of 2021-22 Harry der Boghosian Fellow Leen Katrib. Caitlin Meives and Christopher Brandt presented the Francis E. Hares Preservation Lecture on September 13. New York-based author, editor, and columnist, Matt Shaw presented a lecture on September 15.
UC San Diego's Kelema Lee Moses, Ph.D. will present a lecture discussing urban island design and curatorial response on September 27. Soft Firm co-founder and D. Kenneth Sargent Visiting Critic Lexi Tsien will showcase projects and examples of collective/DIY building and their relationship to public space and the public realm on September 29. B.Arch alumni, Brad Rubin '05, presents "Non-Traditional Careers: A Journey from SU Architecture to Hollywood" on September 30.
On October 6 and 7 award-winning filmmaker Deng Wei presents the documentary film screening of "Father." In addition to the film screening the New York Conference on Asian Studies will take place as well as a performance from Karen and Nepali Dance Performance. The documentary film screening of "Loungta" by Deng Wei will take place on October 13. A lecture and panel discussion from acclaimed editors Korantemaa Larbi (founder and editor-in-chief of Design 233), Isabelle Kirckham-Lewitt (director of Columbia Books on Architecture and the City), Sarah Rafson (Founder of Point Line Projects), and Matt Shaw will take place on October 21. Visiting scholar, founder and executive design director of Horizontal Design, Ju Bin, will present a lecture on October 27.
The University of Buffalo's associate professor of architectural history and criticism, Charles Davis II, will present a lecture on November 1. The film screening of "Not Just Roads," will take place on November 8, along with a panel discussion with writers/directors Nitin Bathla and Klearjos Eduardo Papanicolaou. Concluding the school's Fall event programming is the M.Arch Design Research Lecture given by Kathy Velikov (Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Creative Practice at the University of Michigan, Taubman) and Geoffry Thün (Professor of Architecture at the University of Michigan, Taubman and founding partner of RVTR) on November 14.
