So... our "Rumble" space that we are designated to install and present in is the same room that our studio is setup in. Which is fine.
The deadline for everything to finish is 6pm on Friday, which also has been known for a while. We install over the weekend. However, somehow some genius in the administration has scheduled professional movers to come in and move our desks out at 5pm on Friday. One hour BEFORE our deadline.
Secondly, this issue was brought up weeks ago to the administration by our representative. We are the only graduate studio that has to vacate our studio space for the installation and no consideration or coordination despite the fact that we've brought up our concerns have been acknowledged.
So somewhere between finishing our projects on time, we're supposed to actually pack our entire studio up before the deadline and be ready to move out. Of course all of this was done without notifying us until this week. They offered to give us a room for storage, but we're not allowed to start putting anything in it until 12 noon on Friday.
stay tuned to see how this turns out...
...Rumble out

It must be because Daddy Affect is such a great listener.
If you knew about it weeks ago, what possibly could one hours difference make?
I'd still be pissed on principle tho-
appleseed-
we let the administration know weeks ago we should be moving out on saturday. they said ok.
then they told us today (two days before) that it was actually not ok and they had already scheduled the movers for friday. so for the past couple weeks we were under a complete different impression.
most of the time the school kicks you out AFTER your stuff is due. not before...
ACFA...
whose Studio are you in?
maybe they'll give you an extension because of the trouble they're causing...
; )
In that case, wow.
Stage a protest/refuse to move. What bullshit.
So... I have noticed ads for rumble on archinect and bustler now. They link back to the ucla aud website. Any chance some of the energy given to promoting rumble will go into making sure there is current work on the website? Or better - a gallery for Rumble? The site doesn't seem to reflect the quality or the range of work currently going on at UCLA.
new website is in the works
UCLA peeps... good luck tomorrow! post a bunch
