I'm going to hell. This is what I've done to the Eames House for the sake of a computer class homework exercise. Either hell or I'm going to be cursed for the rest of my life and work only on tract housing. Since it's just a computer class I'm not gonna fuss over the forms. Especially at 5 in the morning.
I'm so embarassed I'm actually posting this...

The Peter Frankfurt Lecture at UCLA was quite interesting. More of a industry awareness kind of lecture. Not highly academic or rigorous but very interesting to see what kind of work occurs tangentially to architecture. Imaginary Forces is his "Experience Design" firm. They've done stuff from the BMW Welt center to the introductory credits to Seven, to the systems architecture for Minority Report, and most recently, the transforming letters for the Transformers Trailer. Apparently a former Columbia GSAPP student figured out how to make the transformation actually work physically. Anyway.
Interesting to see as I think it's exemplary of the inevitably melding of architecture and multi-media. However, it seems that a lot of what they do is to simply make things "look cool" rather than any higher philosophical goals. Maybe a good thing? I don't know. Maybe we're all just elitist designers that look down upon what comes from Hollywood.
Good night/morning... it's time for a few hours of sleep.

don't feel bad ACfA. in undergrad I re-arranged the farnsworth house and added some, ahem, features to make it more energy-efficient. oh, I also moved it to Midland, TX (the climate zone I was assigned). It happens to the best of us. thanks for exposing your dark side...;0
You should see what I did to the Barcelona Pavilion. Ugh. Still makes me feel dirty.
Those Eames movies freaked me out. Everyone loves the Eames, but i am still a skeptic. As for the "bastardization," i would venture to say that we sill be spending a good portion of our lives bastardizing things, so as long as the intent was for education, i say, "Job well done."
I believe the graduate who did the titles was Noah Ohlmsted no? I could be wrong though . . .
just keep a straight face while you're explaining to people why the bastardization of eames is a great concept and a necessary exercise in your education...
The picture missing on this blog....
ACFA asleep in our last critique....full head bobbing action.
