(Kent State University)
It may be somewhat apparent that my posting habits have decreased as compared to last semester. I have no excuses as to why, aside from the usual “I am too busy” line that I’ve been using frequently. It has been my pleasure to project my experiences at Kent to everyone despite some speed bumps… however, I am writing to state that soon I will no longer be studying here.
I didn’t know what architecture fully embodied until I began studying it. I didn’t know that I would fall in love with it like I did. With this came the realization that all architecture schools are not the same. In high school I ranked schools by how close of a proximity they were, and how much money in scholarships I would receive. I did not realize that schools have different pedagogies and different goals. To me they all taught the same thing, just by different people.
After a semester into Kent, it was suggested to me to consider a transfer to another school. I didn’t fully realize until later why I would consider this option… but it became apparent to me that I didn’t quite belong where I was. So, a year, an application, and a daunting home test later, I am proud to announce that I have been accepted into The Cooper Union school of architecture. It has been a difficult decision in the last week, but I have chosen to accept this invitation and attend next year as a 1st year design student. As much as it hurts to start over, I realize that I wouldn’t of been able to get to where I am without the experience of Kent, and everything I have learned there.
I will continue to update everyone on the end of this semester here, and hope to have the opportunity to continue this blog again next year as a student of CU.

Congratulations. Hope to hear you from there!
Congratulations, Danny. Cooper will be an experience unlike anything else in your life, and a wonderful one I am sure. Good for you being brave enough to make that decision and talented enough to get accepted. Good luck!!
definitely a good move. now that i am graduating i wish that i would have gone with my gut a couple of years ago and shot out to another school. its only one year and you will be happy in the end i am sure. good luck and congrats.
sounds wicked~ good on yah!
Well done !
feel bad that Kent is loosing you though.. i was impressed that the school was producing people/work of your caliber and it changed my opinion about the school....guess i will have to change it back. ;-)
hope you keep on blogging. it would be very interesting to read about the transition from one type of school to another...and to see how much more amazing you will be in the new place!

Congrats Danny! I don't think you will be called an overachiever at Cooper. I too have fell in love with architecture. It does have this fulfillment that I haven't found in any of my other studies. I enjoyed your blog at Kent and I actually have been practicing my photo montaging after I saw yours. Thank for the inspiration. I hope you continue to blog at your new home.
