Much what we've done here blogging on archinect under various posts or monikers has involved a process in which we download 3D models from Sketch-up Warehouse or TurboSquid and edit them into our final image presentation.

Are these collages?
[no stop city by archizoom]
Collages, like cutting clips out of a magazine and pasting them together like above by Archizoom, or are these sketches if we take them and change the materials, lighting, and output, and create the essence of zee image?
A fellow archinector - Q seems to have done this for years and years. It's as if Mr. Q was doing Rem Koolhaas and Mies on the computer for decades and only we own a copy of A Quondam Banquet of Virtual Sachlichkeit: Part I [sachlichkeit means - objectivity]
Take a browse, but many of those images we believe are not downloaded from above sources, ...the Q may be the source, so those plans are sketches?
Also, see Piranesi.
Q: Are those sketches or collages?
[collage by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - Resor House Project, Jackson Hole, Wyoming]
If you wanted a tour of this the more sensical and cultured way see the >>> Moma <<< Apply titled Copy 'n' Paste.
Did you ever open that S,M, L, XL door stop book by Rem Koolhaas and find the essay on Mies about the house never built that made Mies...The Barcelona Pavilion according to Rem was a result of this tent structure -Residence Kröller-Müller, Netherlands, 1912
With regard to collages and sketches, the 3D models and plans merged together are probably somewhere between Mies' tent and the Mies collage for Resor. We don't build it, but we edit and model it, render it, and produce something that appears to almost be real. Photorealistic? Do Millenials even know what that means? Photos and internet are real, so it's all real, non?
[recent music by Justice, is Randy a guy or a girl or horny]
Take this stack of music equipment mixed in with a cross by Justice.
What is that? How many of those amps/speakers are projecting audio? How many of those dials on the mixers are doing anything? and the cross? Playing with icons full of meaning... Isn't that a collage?
or
Some 3d collages below, or are they sketches?
A rendering is a work of visual art, especially a detailed architectural drawing. These are not works of art.
We be unitarians like Frank Lloyd Wright
We know the world like Pink Floyd might.
The only religion is reality,
It’s there, you can’t do shit about it.
[above is a poem, below is same poem. Poems are more like collages]

[screenshot from Justice's video Stress, or is this a photo, still? collage of memories? isn't that jacket a collage?]
Boredom as a result of too much to do. Too much professional practice architecture. Too much reality. Lots of fiction and lots of history.
