This project is situated in the heart of Jiading New Town, Jiading District, Shanghai. It occupies a prime location on the southern side of the F1 International Racing City and the central landscape axis of Yuanxiang Lake. Jiading New Town is strategically positioned as the future political, economic, and cultural hub of Jiading District. It plays a vital role in the suburban urbanization development of Shanghai, embodying innovative planning concepts, integrating diverse resources, and boasting a well-designed spatial layout with comprehensive facilities. The town provides an ideal living environment and serves as a catalyst for regional growth.
Our design philosophy adheres to the principles of urban planning, aiming to create a harmonious and integrated architectural complex. Building upon the findings and recommendations from the conceptual design phase, we conducted extensive research on the site's relationship with the city and its surroundings, as well as its connection with the natural environment. Our goal is to develop a five-star hotel that aligns with the future vision of Jiading New Town that is sustainable and forward looking.
In terms of the hotel's architectural form, we prioritize the optimal utilization of existing landscape resources. Our design aims to create a seamless and captivating transition from the urban environment to nature, with distinctive sequences and features. The tower and podium buildings incorporate setbacks and balconies, seamlessly blending with the surrounding environment. Along the southern riverfront, we maximize the guest room views, while the northern side features an enclosed courtyard, forming an internal park-like landscape that links various amenities. The architectural style is simple and minimalist, employing various textures to create a luxurious identity for Le Meridien Hotel in the garden context. We completed SD100% for the design but the project was later halted.
