    Summary –

This week we had an install for a new build relocation for a local business in Knoxville. I helped draw the existing furniture that was being relocated into CAD plans so the installers could know where to place the furniture. Wednesday and Thursday I was able to be on site to help install furniture myself so I could learn how Knoll workstation systems were assembled. I also helped oversee the installation of the product we had specified and ordered for the project. At some point during installation two of the chairs for the reception area and a small table went missing. As the furniture dealer, the situation ultimately falls back on us even though the installers handled receiving, offloading, and installing the product. I was taught a very important lesson on how to handle the situation when things don’t work out as they are supposed to. In the end, the client was happy and was able to move into the new space on time even though the move in date changed last minute. I helped with a few small projects including creating a presentation for an event at our Chattanooga office, and getting to provide some preliminary solutions to a potential client. CBI’s Leading Edge Internship Program is usually a 6 week internship, so for all the other interns, this was their last week. For the internship program, we were supposed to all do a project together that showcased our summer at CBI. We decided to do an infographic showing some key points that we all experienced over the summer. (See Below)

    Focus –

This week’s focus is a little different because we are a furniture dealer. We deal with 90% furniture and textile manufacturers but we do have a few wall covering manufacturers as well as lighting and accessories. We keep up to date on all each vendor has to offer by lunch and learns. This is where a vendor’s sales representative comes in and discusses the new products as well as brings new samples and binders. We organize all our samples and vendor materials in our material library at the office. We always have vendors coming in updating the library for us. If they see something of theirs that needs to be updated they will do that for us.

    Meet –

    Meet Nicole!

She is a Project Manager here at the Knoxville office. She handles marketing as well, alongside our sales representative, Renee. She handles a lot of big projects in the office, as she has been here for almost 3.5 years. She is fun and spontaneous and feels like one of my friends. She likes donuts and ice cream a lot.
