Since Amy was on vacation last week, this week was rather busy trying to get caught up on jobs. Most of the week was spent in one meeting or another, both working on new and existing jobs. Amy also hired a new designer. Since she starts on Monday, I spent time sorting through my files and jobs, making note of the current status, work that has been done, etc.
When presenting design ideas to a client, we usually start with 2D and 3D autocad drawings, showing different views. From there, we work on some renderings so they can have a more realistic view of what the space will actually look like. Designers will typically use Canvas in order to do the renderings. Depending on the client, we may do a full board with images of the design, material samples, etc.
This week, I got to work with a young girl in the office wanting to have some experience in the field before college. Savannah is going into her Freshman year of high school. She’s a really driven young lady. She is even starting her own business selling hand-sewn retro style skirts. Savannah is definitely a delight to work with.
This will be the community Blog for IDS 420 Summer 2016. Students will post their responses to weekly Journal Assignments here as well as view posts/comments from other participants.
