    Week 7

This week, Amy was on vacation, so Lisa and I worked on getting a quote finalized for one of our clients.  I also worked on some renderings for one of our UT projects.  On Wednesday, the UT project manager, Tiffany, emailed with a request to spec some furnishings for different areas in the conference center, so I pulled some samples for her to look at and laid out some furnishings in CAD as she requested.

When a new project is initiated, it is usually done so by the client emailing Amy with their design request and asking to set up a meeting.  Most of our clients are repeat clients.  This is a result of the strong relationships that have been forged between our designers and sales people and our clients.  Once a project is completed, Amy stays in contact with the client to ensure satisfaction.  If issues arise in the future, we work with the client in order to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.  Designers use this, as well as the initial design process and how the client responds to different approaches, and applies the knowledge gained to future projects.  NOI’s Knoxville office is contracted with UT, therefore we are involved in many of the office reconfigurations on campus.  Additionally, we deal with a number of different non-contract client types, including health care, business, etc.

This week, I had the opportunity to work one-on-one with Tiffany Shuler, UT’s project manager with Facility Services.  Tiffany was really great to work with because she had a clear vision of what she wanted in the spaces.  She brought pictures of the space so that I could have a better understanding of what the areas feel like in three dimension, not just on a plan.  We were able to work quickly to reach decisions on furnishing types and finishes.
