This week was a pretty average week for NOI. We continued working on the various projects we have in house at the moment. Ruth came in from Nashville for her bi-weekly meeting with Amy. I have dealt a lot with updating the resource room, contacting reps to replace outdated material.
NOI does a lot of work through word of mouth referrals from previous clients. There is also a lot of repeat business, especially with UT for the Knoxville office. We often work with other design firms in order to customize interiors. There isn’t one market we target more than others. We deal with a wide array of furnishings that are suitable for many different settings including healthcare, government, education, commercial, finance, and retail. Predominantly, we show our clients brochures of different systems that can suit their needs, then work from there. However, there are a few examples to be found on our website: http://www.noifurniture.com/solutions.html. The company has an in-house accountant that deals with all of our finances.
Through our project with New Student and Family Services, I have dealt a lot with Terri Williams. She is one of the administrators for the office. New Student and Family Services is the office that puts together orientation, family weekend, etc. We have been working on redesigning their main work space and a few private offices since I began working at NOI. Terri is really great to work with. She lets us know exactly what will and will not work for their needs, gives very detailed answers and reasoning behind every decision.
This will be the community Blog for IDS 420 Summer 2016. Students will post their responses to weekly Journal Assignments here as well as view posts/comments from other participants.
