What would you name your firm?

    By Arjun Bhat

So everybody's thought about it. I mean, i'm sure most of you out there are bored with the old, "last name acronym" typology of names for firms out there.

I think I'd name my firm the same way I'd go about naming a rock band. But thats just my guess.

As for a name? I know it may not bring in much business but I've got a soft spot for

    Evil Architects.

    or

    Evil Architecture.

    How about you guys?

It's always an interesting game, naming a firm. There are the ABC firms and the last namers...but the best suggestion I heard was: "look at your keyboard and put together letters you like and see what happens."

its not an acronym for anything. i just like the word 'node'. perhaps you like '24-Hour Architecture' better?

i didn't have anything against node, just wondering if it meant something specific.

"24-hour architecture" conjures up images of an architecture quick-e-mart, which is kind of interesting ...

Ha! A year and a half ago my boyfriend and I decided, if we ever actually start our own firm, we'd name it Evil Duo Design.

i wasn't aware of the thread specifically chili, but i was sure that it had been brought up probably somewhere on archinect.

I suspect we may have to come up with a formula for this similar to the porn name (first pet + mother's maiden name - call me Spike Williams)

Perhaps the next archinect discussions could be in that regard, so why is it called ....??

I think last name firms are just fine; you just have to emphasize the name. Think about it...
