The studio has smelled a bit like a candle store lately after we cast beeswax for our materials class last week. Given a quarter sheet of plywood and a quarter sheet of blue insulation foam we were asked to construct a mold and cast a corner detail. The suspiciously named "Super White" release agent was supposed to insure that the casts could come free easily, but it turned into a bit of a disaster with many models turning their owners into impromptu Michelangelos frustratedly trying to remove the excess. Though I dont think he had any works of record executed in blue foam.
Classmate AR pours molten wax into his mold.
Shanty town of molds waiting for the long cure.
Left: Buttmate BB narowly managing to keep all of his fingers intact while attempting to get his cast out of the mold. Right: my mold constructed out of plywood and a good coat of varnish. no hassles.

MAY WE PLEASE SEE SOME OF THE FINISHED DETAILS?
Will post them if I can get some pics, but given that out final review for this class is in January you may have to wait a while. Sorry, guys.
no worries:)
