Deep Point Main Ferry Terminal was a 40,00 square feet public transportation hub that processes passengers to and from Bald Head Island. I worked as a design liaison between the BHI planning department and the architect of record THW Design to steer their concept to relate with the scale and details of the Bald Head aesthetic that kept it in harmony with the BHI vernacular.
Although I worked with the BHI development team primarily on housing, they gave me the opportunity to work on their most significant commercial project after I had commented that the initial design proposed looked like an assisted living facility, with it's undersized proportions and a central cupola that appeared as a church steeple. The owner of BHI development agreed and allowed me to reconsider it's overall form and details such as using subway grates as the venting valance of the contractors pavilion, have twin rafters expressed from the inside to the outside and exposing the structural trusses as ornament.
