For over 45 years, design excellence has been associated with Cal Poly's unique approach to the education of an architect. Core to this success are the polytechnic principles that seek to advance the cause of architecture through a balanced approach between art and science, and a curriculum that furthers the acquisition of knowledge through a learn-by-doing philosophy. During five years of rigorous studies, students are encouraged to investigate contemporary issues of space making; understanding the foundations of a two thousand-year-old discipline, while continuously engaging and dreaming of how to translate new ideas into space and place.
