Architect, Artist and Author

My new groundbreaking book, An Architect’s Journey, demonstrates how readers can embrace forthcoming revolutionary change by leveraging the experiences, insights, and trends gained by bridging the greatest period of change to ever occur within the time of contemporary architecture. The future trends defining the next few decades support a long-range forecast for unlimited professional opportunity mixed with turbulence, uncertainty, and peril. There is a clear consensus that the future will be entirely different from anything ever known before.

Architecture has changed more in the last 50 years than in the last two centuries.  Much of what an architect did not so long ago has become obsolete. To succeed, architects must strive for positions of leadership, contradict the status quo, expand common thinking, behave unconventionally, abandon exclusive theories, innovate from a framework of multiple perspectives, and skillfully navigate the consequences of complicated choices and actions through collaborative and integrative practices.

Compared to the building industry, no other professional group will have the greatest impact on the quality of life tomorrow.  People, places, ecology, and technology are the most critical issues facing the design profession, and they need to be recognized and treated as such. From the Nuclear Age to the Information Age to the Automation Age, the narrative reads both like a novel and a textbook.  An Architect’s Journey draws a stunning culmination of present trends while it paints breathtaking thresholds into the future.  The prose and images combine to deliver an unforgettable rite of passage into the profession of architecture—loaded with invaluable insights for the novice, student, and veteran. WLC Architects, Inc. - 1974 to 2010

Founding Principal/Chairman/CEO

As a founding, senior principal of WLC, Wolff's portfolio includes nationally recognized green building and civic architecture achievement, with numerous state and local awards.  These projects encompass over 300 designed community and educational facilities, civic buildings, and public safety projects as the principal-in-charge.  The firm’s combined portfolio reflects an estimated $8.50 billion of built work. Together in 2001, WLC's ownership group founded California Professional Management known as CPMcrew—a construction management company specializing in the construction of schools and municipal buildings.  Today, WLC is one of the few architectural firms in California who are able to construct their own projects for public school districts and municipalities.
