Here's another impressive entry to the highly popular Central Mosque of Prishtina architecture competition sent to us by Tehran, Iran-based firm TARH O AMAYESH Consultant Architects & Town Planners.
this reminds me of pierre khoury's our lady of lebanon basilica in harissa, lebanon. beautiful lyrical work of concrete. very much in the vein of some of kenzo tange's work.
however, this looks more clunky and a rather less uninspired. the undifferentiated expanse of some concrete surfaces, the lyrical movement straddling what looks like the UN Headquarters tower block, and i think-judging from some of the perspectives- the angles between the spiralling concrete planes are a bit awkward..
on the other hand, i like that the minaret, for a change, is an element arising from the logic of the massing. though i dont know about the minaret design as it is. also, please remove the arabic writing....thats just nonsense.
not bad, but really should go through another design phase to further enrich and refine it. make it less straightforward/naive? what do you think of the proportions?
IYes I agree. Proportio s made me uncomfortable with it. Though I feel it has potential, no? At least I feel I respect this proposal. And you are right that it lacks finesse but its not beyond a good design development. Or not?
