Paris town council has given the green light to a controversial "Triangle" tower rising 590ft above Paris which critics say is an "attack on the beauty of the French capital".

I wish the article would explain more what is meant in the last line "Building work on the Triangle will begin next year assuming Paris manages to revise the urban planning rules on height restrictions this autumn."
Seems premature to announce "
building will be ... and will cost 535m" when the news is really that it has passed one planning hurdle. Unfamiliar with development processes in Paris, is this very likely to go through? was it a surprise that the town council approved? how much political capital is behind this project?
I had thought this project died awhile ago with the economy, has it been in neogotiation with the town council this whole time? so much unreported here.
