just one question i have;
why thailand is capitalizing on the disaster with a huge tourist attraction and 'tragymeaningful' text of "world class architecture", when other countries where the loss of life was manyfold are not able to build anything?
yes, perhaps it is a great project visually, but... i am getting weary of tragedies becaming more and more like opportunities to turn them into tourist attractions. i mean like restaurants, gift shops and such.
i really wonder if the inspiration really came from "meeting the victims families" or a program prepared by thai ministry of tourism. probably both. future 'zona hoteleria'?
i agree with the sentiment about not capitalizing on a tragedy. On the other hand, it seems that commerce and cuisine are a central part of Thai culture. I can understand why restaurants and shops are part of the design.

why isn't the same happening for new orleans? or if it is, why isn't it advertised?
wouldn't the best memorial be a effective warning system?
