A new golf resort concept has been revealed as the latest satellite development for NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion+ experiment in urbanization and global luxury tourism.
'Gidori,' as it will be known, is designed to include an 18-hole course with a 200-unit residential component, 80-room hotel, beach club, and other sport and leisure facilities spread throughout a rocky coastal setting on the Gulf of Aqaba.
Architects Ignacio Gomez and Lama Al-Kharboush (both of Aedas) are mentioned in a promotional video as being the lead designers for the project.
It follows Leyja, Epicon, Siranna, Utamo, Norlana, and Aquellum as the latest addition to the NEOM family. Marketing for the project appears to be centered on its integration within the landscape. A "progressive architectural centerpiece" called 'The Monolith' will greet visitors at the shoreline, keying their repose into the network of spas, pools, and gyms inside and anchoring the program's hiking/cycling trails which lie beyond. The golf course's clubhouse will also include an academy for instruction.
Gomez describes it as a sequence of "luxury experiences."
Killa Design, Woods Bagot, LAVA: Laboratory for Visionary Architecture, Mario Cucinella, Chris van Duijn, and others have been attached to the slate of NEOM projects near the Gulf. It remains unclear when Gidori's construction will begin or be completed.
The first of the NEOM's other satellite developments, the manmade Sindalah island, is set to begin housing new residents within the next six months.

I honestly hope the designers are making the money of their lives on these aberrations.
I keep getting the worst photoshopped adds for golfing for this on my facebook.
