New York, NY
Manhattan art and design college, the School of Visual Arts, recently completed a full floor renovation to create a new Writing Resource Center. The new 3,800 square foot Center now occupies much of the 9th floor of their building at 132 W 21st Street. EP Engineering was responsible for the MEP design for this renovation. An Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) was installed to ventilate the internal areas. The system transfers energy from the return air on the floor to temper the air entering the building, thus saving energy. A Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRF) system was provided to cool the floor. The system consisted of a multi-zone outdoor unit and various ducted and ductless indoor units. A separate system was provided for the IT room that was capable of providing cooling all year round.
