EP orchestrated a pull the plug test for NYPR’s main facility at 175 Varick Street
back in May of 2012, which identified critical issues with their emergency backup
systems – issues that were then repaired after the test. Coincidentally, Hurricane
Sandy came a few months later which wiped out power to all of downtown
Manhattan including their main facility on Varick Street. We were happy to hear
that NYPR never stopped broadcasting during the power outage which lasted for
more then four days at their facility.
