The School of Visual Arts, known for it’s prominence in art and design, recently opened a new Curatorial Practice space on the 10th floor of their building at 132 West 21st Street. The entire floor was renovated including an open lounge, gallery & studio spaces, private offices and a state of the art seminar room. EP Engineering was responsible for the MEP design for this renovation. An Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) was installed to ventilate the internal areas. The system transfers energy from the return air on the floor to temper the air entering the building, thus saving energy. The space was turned over to the end user in time for the first day of classes, due to quick turnaround of construction documents and shop drawing reviews.
