PodShare's site is laden with millennial-friendly tech buzzwords, like the sharing economy, pod culture, nomadic freelancers, access not ownership, and even “Podestrians,” the company's name for guests, each of whom get profiles on its website.
“We’re creating a social network with a physical address,” said Beck. “Our open-floor model offers the highest rate of collisions for social travelers. We do not identify with hostels—we are a co-living space or a live-work community.”

We talk about this project on the podcast this week, so for context: My initial comment when I saw this image was " All I can imagine looking at this is how much fart smell would fill the air every morning."
There are reasons why the place you live and the place you sleep are separate. IMO a bed turning into a desk is not appealing AT ALL, especially in a room full of strangers.
so, is it a dressed up homeless shelter?
it's a slaughterhouse pen i tells ya.
I love how instead of addressing the issue that this generation is poor and in debt, the wealthy have managed to fabricate a whole new culture where it's chic to look and live poor. You can see everywhere, from architecture (unfinished spaces and plywood interiors) to clothing (Kanye's tattered line of fashion, most things at Urban Outfitters). In NY, the "haves" and the "have-nots" are virtually indistinguishable because imitation vintage clothing is so popular.
We need to stop normalizing and fetishizing the growing class disparity and think of creative ways that draw attention to the issue rather that help us cope. Next thing you know, they'll be telling us that the new chic industrial place for young people with college debt to live is Jail. It'll be called Cell Share, Tax payer subsidized.
PS: If you don't think the people who started "PodShare" are sleeping in expensive hotels when they travel and working at home from their mansions then wake up.
