A collection of silk screened posters from the 60s to the 80s: "The collection is made up of 322 silk screened posters of the most well respected Puerto Rican artists. These images are snapshots of significant cultural, social and political events that occurred on the island from 1952 to 1985." Some of these posters were made during the years of the DIVEDCO, a government program to promote literacy and social stability through the arts during the rapid changes of industrialization (see link, link, and the Smithsonian archive). Others were produced as part of promoting cultural affairs, like art biennials, dance, theatre, and exhibitions, as well as sports. Another portion pertains to political movements and causes. www.puertoricanposters.com [Note: if you reload the home page it shuffles the posters and you can see a new round!]

[full disclosure on the family pride side: Lorenzo Homar was my grandfather]
Very nice! Any other work we can see by your grandfather?
Takes me back.
Paul - here is a link to the Princeton archive that houses a pretty large collection. Google image results could also be of interest.
those works are treasure. thanks for the links. wow... WOW!
can you somersault and tumble?
man, that blows the triangle studies i did in school out of the water.
phenomenal.
thanks for sharing, javier.
Orhan, I wish I could!
more on the Homar promotion... These are the pieces in the MFA Boston (notes that you can navigate through 8 pages of work; not all scanned in yet, but it's hard to tell from the window's design)
PS I updated the text above
family tree?
Javier ... I remember those posters from the Panamerican Games very well ... our family moved to the mainland only a couple of years later.
Orhan - family tree? kind of... That one is actually a very small print, probably smaller than it appears on screen. If you go to Mallorca, Spain, you see these ancient olive trees in the northern hill, where my grandfather's family was from. Thanks for posting those images...
SMcSS - Yeah?? '79, baby!
nice find, orhan. and pretty great that javier was able to make a personal connection with the work. besides the more finished design work, the homar sketchbook that javier linked (princeton) is beautiful.
the magic of archinect.
umm wowie zowie..
thanks y'all! .... Note on the sketchboks and princeton: if you notice, there is a menu on the upper right hand side of the page (relink) that drops down and there is much much more to explore, just in case you missed it!
Cool. Talent rolls deep!
