To round off his summer holidays, Prime Minister Blair will spend two days in a brand new Villa built by the Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi. Lets visit its wonderful architecture.
Paparazzi style photo of the works going on at the grounds of the Villa
Here come the Blairs, there goes the neighbourhood... An article from the Independent highlighting the environmental impact of the building over the beautiful rocky coastline and other planning issues.
Fit for an emperor From the Guardian, a description of the building complex “A riot of neo-classical columns, swags, pelmets, striped sofas and Roman-style swimming poolsâ€.
To keep both left and right happy here is the description from The Times. Blairs wooed with olive trees and Shakespeare.
So by now you must be dying to see the villa with your own eyes, well Mr Berlusconi incautiously allowed plans of the Villa to appear in the coffee-table book ‘Exclusive Villas and Resorts’
And Finally, some photos

i hope 'wonderful' was tongue-in-cheek
hope so too
gee, welcome to my prime minister 2 bed flat.
Patrick:that part of the world, sardinia, has hardly anything more than a couple of wooden shacks...all of the resorts were manufactured ex-novo by the aga khan in the 60's, so in a way i guess he respected the building typology of the area:BIG FUCKING CLASSICAL PASTICE!
What I find very interesting is the relationship between advance technologies and the Kitsch esthetics.
Like having water coming from the sea to feed the pools or the 007 like elevator embeded in the rock comunicating the helicopter pad with the bunker entrance, even the necessary knowledge to plant 100 year old olive trees. I can imagine that these people see their buildings in the cutting edge.
Once I met a guy who could admire a telephone as a machine but could not see any merit in a building, architects he said are sissies!!!
