SCHOOL IN FRAME_PRIMARY SCHOOL

CAFA STUDIO/PRIMARY SCHOOL DESIGN/3rd YEAR

<INDIVIDUAL WORK>

<DURATION> 8 WEEKS

<TUTOR> WANG XU

<TYPE> PUBLIC ARCHITECTURE

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A school is a community of a mixture of different age groups from varying backgrounds all with their particular experiences. The aim of the  educative process was therefore to nurture the individuality of each and every child within the framework of a disciplined environment.

The essence of the architecture is this combination of order and clarity and a strong sense of identity. The elevated rectangle appears as an appropriate symbol for this idea. Hence the interior organization is equally simple. With all the classrooms aligned facing south, and administration facing north, the whole building seems to be composed by several bars, while course rooms and specialist classes along with serving spaces placed in between. Round courtyards are inserted within the building. Deciduous trees planted asymmetrically in the courtyard make a contrast with the strict grid of the building. The  transport hall links the ordinary classrooms with special classrooms along with public spaces. There are also activity spaces for each grade for inter-class relax on each floor.
